Friends may have heard of FRP storage tanks. But what's the internal structure like and what precautions should be taken during transportation and storage?

Internal Structure of FRP Storage Tanks

1.Inner Lining of FRP Storage Tanks

The inner lining layer of FRP storage tanks consists of the inner surface layer and the secondary inner layer. The matrix should use resins with excellent corrosion resistance such as bisphenol A unsaturated polyester resin and vinyl ester resin. The reinforcing materials are glass fiber surface mat, chopped strand mat of glass fiber, and non-twisted roving fabric of glass fiber, etc.

2.Strength Layer of FRP Storage Tanks

The matrix is made of general-purpose unsaturated polyester resin, and the reinforcing material is non-twisted roving fabric of glass fiber. The resin content is 45% - 50%, and the thickness of this layer is determined by design calculation.

3.Outer Surface Layer of FRP Storage Tanks

The matrix is made of unsaturated polyester resin with excellent weather resistance. The reinforcing material is glass fiber surface mat or non-twisted roving fabric of glass fiber (thickness less than 0.16mm). The resin content is more than 55%, and the thickness of this layer is 0.2 - 0.5mm.

Finished Product Inspection of FRP Storage Tanks

Finished product inspection standard of FRP storage tanks: Whether the surface of the FRP tank is smooth and clean, free of impurities, no exposed fibers, no visually detectable cracks, no obvious scratches, white flowers and delamination; the outer surface should be smooth, with no exposed fibers, no obvious bubbles and severe uneven color, etc.

Transportation Requirements of FRP Storage Tanks

During transshipment and transportation of FRP storage tanks, violent impacts on the storage tanks should be prevented to avoid damage; measures should be taken to avoid collisions with hard objects during transshipment and transportation; fastening measures should be taken during transportation to prevent collisions and scattering; the height during transportation should meet the requirements of transportation.

Storage Requirements of FRP Storage Tanks

FRP storage tanks with a diameter less than 1500mm can be directly placed on a flat ground. FRP storage tanks with a diameter greater than 1500mm should not be in direct contact with the ground. A layer of fine sand (about 50mm thick) or straw mat (20mm thick) or rubber mat (5mm thick) should be placed on the ground.

The above are the internal structure, finished product inspection standard, transportation and storage requirements of FRP storage tanks. Hope it can be helpful for friends to understand and use FRP storage tanks.
