FRP Rebar

FRP Rebar is composed of high-performance resin materials (UPR, VER, EP, PU) and high-strength fibers (GF, BF, CF) through the pultrusion process. It has the characteristics of light specific gravity, high strength, corrosion resistance, and easy cutting.

Characteristics of FRP Rebar

①High bearing capacity and strong tensile capacity. The strength of the rod is twice that of threaded steel bars of the same diameter, but its mass is only 1/4 of that of steel bars.

②Stable modulus of elasticity, approximately 1/3 to 2/5 of that of steel bars.

③Electrically and thermally insulating. The coefficient of thermal expansion is closer to that of cement than that of steel bars.

The performance of FRP Rebar is basically similar to that of steel bars. It has good adhesion to concrete and at the same time has high tensile strength and low shear strength. It can be directly cut by the composite shield machine very easily without causing abnormal tool damage. However, the biggest difference between FRP Rebar and steel bars is that the elastic modulus of FRP Rebar is small. It is a typical brittle material. The stress-strain curve shows a significant linear relationship before fracture, which greatly affects the stability of the FRP Rebar cage during lifting and the flexural and shear bearing capacity of the continuous FRP Rebar wall during the foundation pit excavation stage.

Application of FRP Rebar

Due to its own characteristics, FRP Rebar is widely used in subway diaphragm walls, highway and railway subgrades, building protection and other fields.
